Geneva Risbin Iddings

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Geneva Risbin Iddings, 92, of Washington, formerly of Marianna, on January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born September 6, 1932, in Marianna, PA, a daughter of the late Michael and Frances Ottena Risbin.  Geneva was a 1951 graduate of West Beth High School. On September 29, 1951, she married the love of her life, Eugene C. Iddings Sr., who passed away on July 30, 2008.  During their nearly 57 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling to many destinations on cruises and bus trips.

Geneva resided most of her life in Marianna, where she was a member of the former St. Mary & Ann Catholic Church.  As an active member, she served on many church committees and spiritual groups.  She held all positions of the Christian Mothers/Altar Society, including serving two terms as president.  Geneva served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, as well as a Sacristan, where she took pride in keeping the altar linens clean and the church altar adorned for Mass and special occasions.  She was also in charge of ordering the Easter and Christmas flowers to beautify the altar area.  Geneva was instrumental in starting and maintaining the “Tuesday Breakfast Club,” where church attendees were invited after Mass to gather in the church hall for breakfast and socializing.  She was also a part of the team that made and sold pierogies for the church.  After moving to Washington in 2015, she became a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish in Meadowlands.

Geneva loved family get-togethers, where she was famous for her delicious spaghetti sauce and yummy desserts.  She enjoyed reading books, doing word searches, shopping, going out to eat, and rooting for the Steelers and Penn State football teams.

Surviving is her daughter, Frances Iddings Appel of Washington with whom she made her home; a daughter-in-law, Fran (Babe Wrubleski) Iddings of Washington; three grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Iddings of Washington, Andrea (Michael) Sciullo of Bridgeville, and Chaz Appel of Washington; two great-granddaughters, Davnie Iddings and Sophia Sciullo, whom affectionately called her GiGi; a sister, Wilma Jean Yuhas of Marianna; a brother, Tommy Risbin of Marianna; a brother-in-law, Edward Yonosik of Marianna; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is her son, Eugene (Geno) Iddings Jr.; a son-in-law, Charles (Monty) Appel III; a sister, Beatrice Yonosik, and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Risbin.
