David "Dave" John Stechly
/David “Dave” John Stechly, 63 of Amity died Monday-July 20, 2015 at the Donnell House following a lengthy illness. He was born February 1, 1952 in New Eagle the son of the late John Henry Stechly and Stella Wloch Stechly of Washington. Mr. Stechly was employed as a mine mechanic for the United Mine Workers for 43 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a graduate of Bentleyville High School. He had been a member of the Ellsworth Sportsman Club, the BPOE Elks Lodge #776, the American Legion of Bentleyville, the Eagles of Bentleyville and the United Mine Workers. He was an avid Penguin and Steeler fan. He enjoyed archery and loved to golf. Mr. Stechly enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguin games with his father in law; Bob Johnston. Mr. Stechly was very active in his son’s lives, bragging about their accomplishments and expressing how proud of them he was throughout his life.
On June 29, 1985 he married Vicki Lea Johnston Stechly who survives. Also surviving are his sons; Justin David (Sara) Stechly of Fredericktown & Jesse Maverick Stechly of Amity, two sisters; Agnes Quinn Loftus of Carbondale & Cynthia O’Brien of Washington, a granddaughter; Jovie Mae Stechly, father and mother in law; Bob and Nancy Johnston of Amity and several nieces & nephews also survive.
Friends will be received on Thursday-July 23, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday-July 24, 2015 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
