Nora Elizabeth Vallano McMahon
/Nora Elizabeth Vallano McMahon died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015. Mrs. McMahon was born July 8, 1933, in Greensburg, daughter of Josephine and Pasquale Vallano. She was the loving, dedicated and devoted wife of Dr. William J. McMahon; loving and ever-supportive mother of seven children, Christine (Jack Tumpson), Patrick (Vitty McCabe), Marjorie, Julie (Rick Sorkin), Kerry (Bailey Izard), Rod (Barbara Caminos) and Maria (John Bryan); and grandmother of 21, Josef Sorkin, Max Tumpson, Kyle Sorkin, William McMahon, Corinne Tumpson, Ryan Sorkin, David Izard, Alicia McMahon, Mack Izard, Sean Sorkin, Sophia McMahon, Neil Obod, Keith Obod, Thomas McMahon, Patrick Bryan, Natalia McMahon, Grady Bryan, George Izard, Nora Bryan, James Izard and Winnie Bryan.
She is survived by siblings, Pauline Demilio, Richard Vallano, Dora Vallano Seamens, Rose Marie Vallano Evans and Tom Vallano. She was predeceased by her siblings, John Vallano, Alfred Vallano and Gina Vallano Bahner. A graduate of Greensburg High School and Seton Hill University, she received a dietetic Internship at Mass General Hospital. She was a research dietician at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health and a dietetic instructor at Carnegie Tech and Margaret Morrison College. She was also a dietitian at Washington Hospital - Extended Care Facility. She was past president of Symphony South Organization, a lifelong student of the Bible and her Christian faith. She loved God and Savior Jesus Christ, loved to distribute Bibles to the community and those challenged, including fire fighters in NewYork City and students in Sarasota, Fla. She loved to be surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, to cook, garden, dance, sing, travel, the beach, the theater and the symphony. She experienced a full life in her walk with God, sharing experiences with family and friends. She had a thirst to learn and to be productive in all aspects of life. She was a true inspiration to her family, always loved life and will be deeply missed. We love you, Nora! We love you, Mom! We love you, Nonnie!
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in the Warco-Favlo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at 336 Wilson Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut St., Washington. Those wishing to attend the Mass are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. James Mausoleum. A reception will follow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Golf Club of Washington, 599 Country Club Road, Washington. Children are welcome to attend.
