Patti Martin Lucas

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patti Lucas, 70 of Washington on Saturday, April 12, 2025.  She was born October 30, 1954, in Washington, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth Marsh Martin.

Patti graduated from Wash High in 1972 and still had dear friendships from school.  She briefly attended Clarion University before moving into the world of work.

One of Patti’s most significant accomplishments was raising her daughter.  She taught her to fight for what is right, to be kind, helpful, loyal, caring, hard-working and most importantly to be unapologetically herself.  Patti supported her through the highs and the lows of navigating life.  She was always in her corner and would come out swinging if she felt there was injustice, but would humble her when needed.

Patti was compassionate and would help others in many ways.  She often was trusted to care for the elderly.  Patty provided an ear to listen or offered advice, even when you didn’t want to hear it.  She was a doer and was not afraid of a little work. She wasn’t bossy, but would tell you, “You’re just doing it wrong.”

Patti loved family gatherings, naps, plants, visiting South Carolina, being bossy, telling the truth (Santa is not real), celebrating, getting her nails done, listening to music (especially her brother), General Hospital, chips and dip, Steeler football, pizza, ginger ale, playing games, sweet tea, the beach or pool, a comfy crew neck sweatshirt, going out to eat, themed outfits including jewelry, socks and glasses, crab legs, sushi and a good white Russian, easy on the vodka.  She also enjoyed being a “good cook”, which she often reminded us about and being the “favorite” aunt.

Patti disliked being told what to do, germs, anything dirty, being on time, generic ginger ale, dressing up, spicy food and cancer.

She is survived by her boyfriend of 27 years, Rick Chester; her daughter, DeAnna Martin; siblings, Dirk (Pam) Martin, Kent (Christy) Martin, and Christy Lane Miles; nieces and nephews, Melissa (Mark Matuska) Shary, Colan (Meredythe) Miles, Coury (Emily) Miles and Clay and Brett Martin; great-niece and nephews, Camden, Cayden, Callin and Lilah Miles; bonus daughter, Shaylee Jade O’Bryan and beloved pets, Lucky, Lucy and grandpet, Winston.

Patti was preceeded in death by her sister, Shiela Shary and her brother, Zach Martin.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S.
