Kathleen Nies

Kathleen Nies, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at home in Washington on Monday, February 3, 2025.

During her 89 years, family and faith were Kathleen’s greatest joys.

The daughter of Catherine and William Halder, she was born on March 14, 1935, in Erie, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by Gerald F. Nies.

Surviving are her eight children, Gerald Nies (Mary Ellen), Mary Nies, Lisa Serrao (Rox), Kate Braden (Terry), Sue Zoeller (Lee), Amy Nies, Ellen Blume (Bill), and Bill Nies (Laura); fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director.  Departing Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W.
