Nancy A. Carter

Nancy A. Carter, 80 of Washington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.  She was born May 23, 1944 in Washington, PA a daughter of the late Herbert and Edna Pettit Hawkins.  Nancy was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School.  She was first employed at the Washington Hospital before going to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Presbyterian Home.  Nancy later became employed at the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. from where she retired.  She was a former member of the Alpine Club, the Keystone Club and the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175.  Nancy enjoyed playing bingo and bowling.  She was inducted into the Washington County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2009.  Nancy also enjoyed collecting owls and thimbles.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

On December 4, 1976 she married Ronald D. “Puff” Carter who passed away on March 11, 2009.  Surviving is a daughter, Kelley (Joe) Yonish of Houston, PA; a brother, Herbert “Skip” Hawkins of Ohio; two sisters, Wilma (Arnold) Schulte of Ohio and Bonnie (Don Lachman) Neely of Claysville; four grandchildren, Kyle Anderson, Timothy (Amy) Johnson, Austin (Callie) Anderson and Jordan (Kevin) Niebergall; two great grandchildren, Bailey Niebergall and Hazel Anderson and a daughter in law, Audra Anderson.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her stepfather, Willis Conklin; a son, Edward Anderson; three brothers, Harold “Butch”, Michael and Charles Hawkins; a sister, Grace Hawkins and a half-sister, Sandy Conklin.

Friends will be received on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 8, 2024 in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, PA.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
