William Richard Shearer
/William Richard "Dick" Shearer, of Washington PA, passed away, Thursday, July 25, 2024. He was born September 21,1924, son of the late Albert Hepler Shearer and Bessie Roofner Shearer. He was the beloved husband of the late Eva Bowser Shearer. Surviving are his children, son Jeff Richard (Brenda A.) Shearer of Latrobe and daughter Jean (Matthew) Lucas of Washington; five grandchildren, Joseph (Lauren) Shearer, Sean (Connie) Shearer, Rebecca Weaver, Nicole Weaver (Matt), and Chloe S. Shearer (Husband Dan); four great-grandchildren, Katie Shearer, Brooke Shearer, Matty Berdine and Connor Shearer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by all 11 brothers and sisters. Dick was born and raised on a small farm in Worthington, PA and was a graduate of Worthington High School. Dick was a proud WWII D-Day ARMY veteran, serving through-out Europe. After his discharge, he founded Shearer Heating and Air Conditioning Company. He was a member of the Washington Lions Club since 1948, a 62-year member of the Sunset Lodge #237 F.&A.M, and a 61-year member of the Syria Shrine. Upon his retirement, Dick really enjoyed selling KOZY Nuts as a fundraiser for the Lions Club. He also enjoyed delivering Meals-On-Wheels for over 30 years and participating in activities at the Claysville Senior Center. Mr. Shearer was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glyde.
Friends will be received on Tuesday July 30, 2024, from 2-4 PM in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. To conclude visitation on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, there will be a service at 4:00 PM with The Lions Club of Washington followed by a funeral service with The Rev. William B. Henry, Jr. officiating.
