Calvin P. Cokeley
/Calvin P. Cokeley, 95, of Washington, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 7, 2024. Calvin was born on June 27, 1929, in Cairo, West Virginia, a son of the late Harry R. and Willa A. Ross Cokeley. He moved to Washington with his family in 1935. Calvin graduated from Washington High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, marrying Margaret Bosak, who survives, on September 11, 1954, a year after he returned home. Calvin and Margaret recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He is a lifetime member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175. Calvin worked for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers of America, serving the community into his retirement years. Clavin was recognized locally for his work in wiring local public schools for computer connections in the early days of the Internet. He was also a volunteer with the Washington Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
Calvin leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret; his children, Susan Loeser, Kevin Cokeley, and Kathleen Bailey; grandchildren, Peter Loeser (Aimee), Laura Culp (Bob), Lt. David Bailey USN, and Mark Bailey, and four great granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Holland Cokeley, Annabelle (Cokeley) Sams, and Zoe Mae (Cokeley) Tarr.
The family would like to thank Gateway Hospice and Caring Missions for their extraordinary care during Calvin’s final months of life. Memorial contributions may be directed to one of these organizations.
Friends will be received on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with the Rev. Kerri Clark officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, PA.
