Mary T. Warrick

Mary T. Warrick, 96, of Washington, Pennsylvania, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, surrounded by everything she held dear, her family and friends.

She was born October 21, 1927, a daughter of the late Angelo and Angela Dire.  Mary was born in Hickory, PA, a town that would remain close to her heart, in the building where the Ole Hickory Inn is, with her siblings, Albert, Louis and Michael Dire, Erma Baroni, Josephine Lugalia, Edith Vernon, and Joann Ross.

Mary's life was a tapestry of love, family, and service to others.  She met the love of her life, Earl J. Warrick Jr. while working at Warrick’s Grocery & Dairy Bar.  The two lovebirds were married on September 3, 1950, at the First United Methodist Church in Washington, PA., where she later became a member.  Together they raised three children, Bonnie Bello, Karen Gnagey (David Krency), Earl “Johnny” Warrick III, who brought joy, pride and of course many grandchildren to her life.

As the owner at Warrick’s Grocery & Dairy Bar she worked side by side with her husband, Earl to build a successful business until they closed the doors in 1980.  After the business closed, she continued to work in various jobs where she loved having an opportunity to interact with the public and serve her community.  Most notably was her time working with her daughter, Karen at her gift shop, Holly Berry Pines.

Her home was always filled with the laughter and happiness of her beloved grandchildren, Bronwyn Williams, Lauren Schmitt (Stephen), Sara Campbell, Melissa Wallace (Jeremy), Ashley Byrd (Steven), Craig “Buck” Gnagey Jr. (Mackenzie), and Robbie Krency.  Her heart was also warmed by being called Mamaw or Gram by several bonus grandchildren.

Once the grandchildren came, you’d most likely find Mary rocking a baby, cheering at a sporting event, driving her Lincoln or Jaguar to school pickup, or a plethora of other events that revolved around them!

Mary is lovingly remembered as GiGi by her 15 great grandchildren, Braque Reyes (Scott), Evan Mitchell (Natasha), Chase Mitchell (Jacqueline), Steven, Bryson and Liam Byrd, Westin and Tristan Wallace, Scarlett and Blake Schmitt, Madeline Campbell, Luca Natali, Wiley, Lennon, and Atlas Gnagey.  Mary was also fortunate enough to live to see 10 great-great grandchildren born!

She rejoins her late husband, Earl, siblings, Albert, Louis, Erma, Edith, and Michael; daughter, Bonnie; son, Johnny, and sons-in-law, Craig Gnagey Sr. and Jack Williams in eternal peace.
