Betty Jean Brown Tyler

Betty Jean Brown Tyler, 98 of Washington, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington. 

She was born September 9, 1924 in Washington, a daughter of the late Joseph C. Brown and Ester M. Burgess Brown.

Betty attended Washington High School.  She worked in sales for several years at Kauffman's Department store before moving on to work for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board from where she retired on November 28, 1986.

Betty was an avid bowler.  Over the years she participated in several local bowling leagues.  She often attended bowling tournaments around the country. Betty bowled well into her nineties and was inducted into the local bowler's hall of fame.

She is survived by three grandsons, Derrick Carlo, Iniko Tyler and Patrick Morgan-Tyler; a granddaughter, Melissa Morgan; a daughter-in-law, Christine Tyler and numerous great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard Brown, Joseph Z. Brown, Violet Smith, Beverly Brown, Clyde A. Brown Sr., Charles B. Brown, Sherman C. Brown, Shirley M. Robinson and Lloyd A. Brown; a son, Terrell B. Tyler and a grandson, Akeli Tyler.

Friends will be received on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A Blessing Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 21, 2023 in the funeral home with the Rev.
