Kenneth Leslie Wilkins
/Kenneth Leslie “Petey” Wilkins, 71, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Donnell House surrounded by his family. He was born April 10, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Henry Wilkins and Charlotte Stewart. Mr. Wilkins was later adopted and raised by his beloved mother, Lottie Wilkins. He was a 1970 graduate of Washington High School and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served from 1971until 1975 as a CPL in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged. Mr. Wilkins then embarked on a career with Mathis Coal Company where he was employed as a general laborer for 20 years up until his retirement. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Washington where he currently served as a Deacon. Mr. Wilkins was also a former Trustee of the church, van driver, and teacher of the new member’s class. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Kenzo. Mr. Wilkins was a true humanitarian who loved talking and ministering to people. He enjoyed socializing with friends at Shop N’ Save and was truly a fashion icon. Mr. Wilkins will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His wife of 47 years, Veronica L. Wilkins passed away on December 16, 2021. Surviving are five daughters, Leslie Terrell of Cleveland, OH, Dena Chandler of Washington, PA, Kenderly (Sean) McMillan of Reynoldsburg, OH, Danielle Moody of North Carolina, and Courtney Wilkins of Washington, Pa; a son, Terrance Moody; and a brother, Teddy (Adrianne) Sherron of Columbus, OH. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Chisolm and a sister, Doris Gresham.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. at the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. the hour of a funeral service in the Friendship Baptist Church, 17 E. Walnut Street, Washington, PA 15301. Interment will follow at 12:30 P.M. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 and the United States Marine Corps.
