Mitchell Robert Abbas

Mitchell Robert Abbas, 93 of Washington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.  He was born April 14, 1929 in Washington, PA the son of the late Mason and Loretta Khalil Abbas.  Mr. Abbas was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School.  Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Korean War for three years with the 24th Division 6th Tank Battalion.  Mr. Abbas was a recipient of the Purple Heart in 1950.  He had been a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 in Washington for over 14 years.  Mr. Abbas was employed as an aircraft mechanic for 38 years for Capital Airlines/United Airlines.

On January 31, 1985 he married Doris J. Freemer Abbas who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Robert Abbas of Elkridge, MD; a daughter, Sheryl (William) Leitsch of Washington, PA; grandson, Robert (Kelly) Leitsch of Elyria, OH; sister, Cecelia George of Washington, PA; sister in law, Rita Abbas of West Chester, OH and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are his sisters, Dolores Ragona, Martha (Aleda) Rush, Adele Bannister and Alberta Hires; brothers, Henry and Joseph Abbas and brother in law, Louis Ragona.
