Richard Stevenson Elliott

Richard Stevenson Elliott, 99, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Evergreen Assisted Living in Washington.

He was born October 10, 1923 in Rochester, the son of the late William Frank and Florence Rachel Stevenson Elliott.  Richard married Irene Marie Paytas on October 5, 1945 and they enjoyed 44 years together before her death in 1989.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Frank Elliott; a sister, Ellinor Elliott Searight; a daughter, Barbara Ellen; and a granddaughter, Rachel Alyssa Core.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol E. Brown (Robert) of Kennesaw, Ga., Lois E. Core (Gordon) and Kathleen E. Clark, both of Washington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Richard grew up in Hookstown, where in his formative years he farmed the land that had been in the Stevenson-Elliott family since 1840.  In 1958, he moved his family to Washington where he was a truck driver for 30 years and later became a tour bus driver.  He enjoyed many years of gardening and golfing as well as wintering in Florida in his retirement.
