Mark Henry Whalen

Mark Henry Whalen, 58 of Washington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday-January 19, 2022 in his home.  He was born May 23, 1963 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Dr. Thomas J. and Margaret M. “Peg” Keenan Whalen.  Mr. Whalen was a 1981 graduate of Seton LaSalle High School.  He attended the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and California University of Pennsylvania.  Mr. Whalen was Catholic.  He worked for Eighty Four Lumber and the Home Depot, but most of his life he worked in landscaping.  Mr. Whalen enjoyed playing golf and football and he never missed watching a Steeler game.  He also loved watching old movies especially Rocky and Jaws.  Mr. Whalen will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Surviving are his siblings, Peggy Whalen, Thomas J. (Shileen) Whalen Jr. and Sherry (Thomas) Raineri; sister in law, Deidra Whalen Shay; step mother, Alice Whalen; two step brothers, Brad and Doug Montgomery; six nephews, Brian (Jewel) Omslaer and Kyle Omslaer, J. Keenan (Miranda) Whalen, Thomas “T.J.” Whalen, Jeremiah Raineri and Alex Brozinski (Mark’s Godson); two nieces, Abby and Leigh Whalen; one great nephew, Michael Omslaer; two great nieces, Kenna Omslaer and Scarlet Whalen; aunt, Kathleen Larimer; cousins, Frank Larimer III and Michael Larimer; Mark’s girlfriend, Helen Sands and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Philadelphia. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Whalen and by an uncle, Frank Larimer Jr.

Friends will be received on Wednesday-January 26, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A Blessing Service will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Lynam officiating.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O.
