Nick Samila Jr., 98 of Washington passed away on Thursday-May 20, 2021 at Strabane Woods, Washington.  He was born September 28, 1922 in Canonsburg, PA the son of the late Nick and Katherine Polly Samila who preceded him in death as well as his stepmother, Anne.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Helen Gayarski of 74 years; his children, Patty (Frank) Steinle of Franklin Park and David Samila of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his fur buddies, Zeke, Louie and the late Guinnness.

Deceased are his brothers, John and Steve Samila and a number of stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Mr. Samila was a World War II Veteran, having served with the Army Air Corps 125th Liason Squadron.  He was employed by and retired from Cooper Industries.  Mr. Samila was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he served as an usher.  He was also a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the Cameron Wellness Center.  Mr. Samila was an outgoing man who did so much for others and was loved by many.

Friends will be received on Tuesday-May 25, 2021 from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director.  A prayer service will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday-May 26, 2021 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington PA.  Interment will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday-May 26, 2021 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.  Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Army.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 69 W.
