Robert “Bob” Frank Steiner Jr., 76 of Meadowlands, formerly of East Canonsburg died Sunday-August 5, 2018 in his home.  He was born March 19, 1942 in Canonsburg Pa. the son of the late Robert Frank and Barbara Ann Boyan Steiner Sr.  Mr. Steiner was Methodist by faith and was a 1960 graduate of Canon McMillan High School.  After High School he served in the United States Navy as an electronics technician from 1960 until 1964 at which time he was honorably discharged.  While in the Navy, he was stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Oceana, Virginia, Virginia Beach.  He was also stationed for a period of time in Argentia, Newfoundland where he studied and practiced the art of Judo attaining the level of brown belt.  Following his military service, Mr. Steiner received a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in special education from California University of Pennsylvania.  His teaching career which spanned over thirty years began at Bentworth High School where he taught special education.  Mr. Steiner later went on to create and start the special education program at the Western Area Vocational Technical Center from where he retired after many years of dedicated service in the special education field. 

Mr. Steiner was a member of the American Legion Post # 902, Houston, Pa.  He enjoyed music and playing the accordion.  Mr. Steiner at one time was a member of the band, “The Vandels” where he played the keyboard.  He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, reminiscing and telling stories and coaching his daughter’s youth sports teams.  Mr. Steiner was proud of his Slovenian and Croatian heritage and enjoyed making his signature kielbasa and sauerkraut.  Most of all, he enjoyed all the times that he spent with his family.

On April 1, 2003 he married Maxine Butera who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters; Jennifer Elaine (Brian) Decima of Washington and Laura Elaine (Neil) Cwynar of Pittsburgh, a step-daughter; Cynthia Lyn (Alisa Vogelsang) Butera of Ohio, a step-son; Justin McFeely Butera of Claysville, a sister; Barbara Donovan of Aliquippa and a granddaughter; Sara Elaine Setto.  Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his mother and father, Mr. Steiner was preceded in death by his first wife; Dorothy Elaine Steiner and by a brother; Frederick Thomas Steiner.

Friends will be received on Wednesday-August 8, 2018 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday-August 9, 2018 in the funeral home.  Burial will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, with full military honors being accorded by the VFW Post # 191, Canonsburg and the United States Navy.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Donnell House, Concordia Hospice of Washington, 10 Leet St. Washington Pa. 15301.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFunerlHome.com
