Doris M. Volen

Doris M. Volen, 91 formerly of Meadowlands died Monday-December 12, 2016 at the Manor Care, Peters due to declining health.  She was born June 22, 1925 in Meadowlands the daughter of Betty R. Gamble Chester and was raised by her grandparents; Harry & Maude Gamble.  Mrs. Volen attended Meadowlands Grade School.  She was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and the Christian Mothers of the church.  She was also a member of a card club where she enjoyed playing cards.  Mrs. Volen enjoyed spending time with her family.  They were her life and meant everything to her.

On April 14, 1946 she married Joseph W. Volen who died October 28, 1991.  Surviving are her four daughters; Pamela J. (Arnold) Brach of Washington, Deborah C. (William) Cecchini of Avella, Terri L. (Richard) Hall of Washington, & Kim L. (A.J.) Strimel of Houston, eight grandchildren; A.J. (Missy) Brach, Dana (Jason) Cecchini, Ryan (Becky) Cecchini, Kalyn (Brian) Penderville, Kelly (Jason) Howanec, Kacey (Kent) Crossland, Adlin (Erin) Strimel & Devon Strimel, sixteen great-grandchildren; Tyler, Schyler, Joesi, Jaycie & Gia Brach, Alexis Patterson, Josh Tournay, Anna & Emma Cecchini, Makenna & Megan Penderville, Liam & Avery Howanec, Maverick & Bode Crossland & Eyla Strimel, one great-great- grandchild; Mia Brach.

Mrs. Volen was also preceded in death by her grandson; Joseph Brach.

Friends will be received on Thursday-December 15, 2016 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director.  A prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday-December 16, 2016 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands with Father Carmen D’Amico as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 300 Pike St. Box 366 Meadowlands Pa. 15347.
