Michael J. “Mike” Kaveney, 59 of Washington died Friday-July 17, 2015 unexpectedly in his home. He was born April 12, 1956 in Erie, the son of the late Dennis Kaveney and Janet Nuber Kaveney of Erie. Mr. Kaveney was a graduate of Grove City High School, attended Penn State University and graduated from Waynesburg College with an MBA. He was presently employed as the CFO at Schroeder Industries in Leetsdale. Mr. Kaveney was President of TWIST Girls Softball, was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Penn State Football and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mr. Kaveney was very much a family man. He enjoyed having his children and grandchildren around and sharing all of the fun family times together with his wife.
Mr. Kaveney was formerly married to Sandra K. Gump Kaveney who died on April 17, 1992. On April 4, 1997 he married Cynthia “Cindy” Clark Kaveney who survives. Also surviving are four daughters; Elisabeth H. “Beth” (Randy) Wagers of Canonsburg, Kimberly J. Kaveney of Washington, Natalie J. Schwoerer of Canonsburg & Maggie J. Novotny of Washington, a brother; Stephen (Susan) Kaveney of Harrisburg, two sisters; Barbara (Phillip) Sammons of Wattsburg and Susan (Mark) McClymonds of Butler, and four grandchildren; Makayla Schwoerer, Aiden Schwoerer, Max Wagers & Mara Wagers. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Kaveney was also preceded in death by a brother; Thomas "Tom" Kaveney.
Friends will be received on Monday-July 20, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday-July 21, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A blessing service will be held on Wednesday-July 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Don Chortos officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
