Carol Henry Matz
/Carol Henry Matz, daughter of the late Park and Julia Henry, died peacefully on October 16, 2015. Born October 21, 1934, she was predeceased by her husband, James W. Matz, in 2009 and by her brother, Skip Henry, in the same year. Mother of Judy, Jeff (Linda), Jane and James P. Grandmother of Melissa, Kelly, Heather, Jaclyn, Nicolas, Austin and Mackenzie. Great grandmother of Nicolas, Jose, Ayanna, Mya, Sofia, Micah and Marco. Sabrina and Sluggo were the feline ‘children’ whom she added to her brood in later years. Questions as to how she rank-ordered each member of the brood in her affections shall remain unspoken (in the interests of the sensitivities of the human members). Carol taught elementary school and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, reading, taking trips to historic and quaint locales, and keeping current on local and world affairs. She was more than a casual follower of football and baseball. She had ardent opinions about all that she encountered….these were often vociferously stated. Her sense of humor was drier than the Sahara. Carol was on a committed, relentless, and lifelong quest to find the ever-elusive, perfect, potato chip - chased with a chug of Coca Cola. She did this, and all else, admirably and to the very, very best of her ability. We will always love her for that.
