Beloved Brother and Uncle

Matthew J. “Bud” Piacenza Jr., 78 of Washington died Monday-January 11, 2016 at the Washington County Health Center.  He was born October 17, 1937 in Canonsburg the son of the late Matthew J. and Blanche M. Yusko Piacenza Sr.  Mr. Piacenza was a 1955 graduate of Chartiers Township High School.  Mr. Piacenza was a charter member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands.  He served in the United States Army Signal Corp and was stationed in Germany and France. He attained the rank of Sp5 (E5) and was honorably discharged in February of 1963.  Mr. Piacenza was employed by Bell Telephone, later Verizon for 35 years as an installer.  He bred and raced Standard Bred horses at the Meadows racetrack in the 60’s and 70’s. He also enjoyed tractor pulling, farming and gardening.  Mr. Piacenza was a member of the Pioneers Club and also was a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.

He is survived by a sister; Marolyn A. Piacenza of Washington, a brother; Robert L. (Phyllis) Piacenza of Washington and a sister; Katherine L. (Dennis) Duffy of New Middletown, Ohio, two nieces; Meghan (Eric) Starr of Shaker Heights, Ohio & Melissa M. Piacenza of Eighty Four, 2 great nieces; Claire & Caitlin Starr and several cousins also survive.

Friends will be received on Friday-January 15, 2016 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday-January 16, 2016 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands with the Rev. Carmen A.
