Yolanda V. Glad

It is with great sadness that the family of Yolanda V. Glad announce her passing on Friday, December 20, 2024.

Yolanda, affectionally known as “Yo”, was born in Washington PA, on September 25, 1930.  She was the daughter of the late Gabriele and Vittorina (Pasqua) Cargini.  Yolanda grew up on Elm Street playing softball and learning to swim with her brothers, helping her father and mother grow their vegetable gardens, and cooking and baking in her mother’s kitchen.  She was a remarkable cook and baker who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, and especially carrying on the traditions of her Italian heritage.

Leading up to graduation she worked at Camp Bloomfield, a tobacco farm in Connecticut.  After graduation from Washington High School in 1949, she worked as a telephone operator at the Bell Telephone Company of PA.  She along with her family were faithful members of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Yolanda was married for 69 years and was the heart and soul of her family.  She had an incredible heart, radiated inner Godly beauty, and had a selfless ability to love at all cost.  Her family was her pride and joy. She had a green thumb and everything she touched in her garden came to life.  Yolanda loved fashion and was always dressed to embody style and elegance.

A favorite pastime was watching the cooking channels and turner classic movies during her spare time.  She was a dedicated Pirates and Steelers fan and made certain she created meaningful and lasting memories on her yearly family vacations to the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Kay (Paul) Chilensky and Jo Ann Glad; one granddaughter, Melanie (Robert) Whipp; two step grandchildren, Jordan (Danielle) Chilensky and Nia Chilensky; two great grandchildren, Adalyn and Ryder Whipps, and step great grandchild, Styliani Chilensky, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
