Betty “Betsy” Ann Baker Desmond, 70, of Claysville, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, while vacationing in Venice Beach, FL. She was born March 28, 1954, a daughter of Ray and Ann “Bubbles” Baker of Washington, PA, who survive.
Mrs. Desmond was a 1972 graduate of Washington High School and went on to work for 45 years at the Bon-Ton in Washington, PA, as the Human Resources Manager for the last 10 years of her career, retiring in 2019.
On May 21, 1983, she married Mike Desmond, who survives. They had resided in Claysville, PA for the last 39 years. Also surviving are her children, Andy Desmond of Claysville, PA and Maggie Desmond of Washington, PA; her cherished grandchildren, Landon, Kale, Charlie, and Sophie Desmond of Claysville, PA; a sister, Debra Baker Livolsi of Washington, PA, and a brother, Scott (Sandy) Baker of Presto, PA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
Her life revolved around her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a very kind, loving, and giving person who never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face to greet you. Mrs. Desmond loved vacationing with her family, especially the numerous trips to Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, FL. Mrs. Desmond was a lifelong member of the Broad Street Baptist Church in Washington, PA, and had a very strong faith. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday in the funeral home. The family asks that all who attend, if possible, to wear Pink as this was Betsy’s favorite color. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
