Sarah Ann "Sally" Montgomery Pirris
/Sarah Ann "Sally" Montgomery Pirris, peacefully passed away on Thursday-November 19, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Taylorville, IL on July 30, 1938 to Charles and Helen Montgomery. She was Raised in Springfield, IL where she attended elementary school, then moved to Chicago where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She then attended Barat College in Lake Forest, IL and received her nursing degree at St. Francis Hospital in Chicago, IL in 1960. While at St. Francis, she met her future husband, John Pirris who was an intern at St Francis hospital. They married in 1960 and moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked as a pediatric nurse at the University Hospitals. They had three children (Mary, Helen and Anne) in Minneapolis. They moved to Washington, PA after John's residency training and time on faculty at the University of Minnesota. Washington is where they made their home for 45 years, having three more children (Peggy, Jack and Stephen). Recently, Sally and John moved to Friendship Village of South Hills in Upper St Clair, PA. Surviving are her husband John, six children, Mary (Andrew), Helen (Nick), Anne (Rich), Peggy (Jerry), Jack (Dawne), Stephen (Kristin) and sixteen grandchildren, as well as two brothers, Charles (Patricia) Montgomery and John (Martha) Montgomery. She was a member of Immaculate ConceptionChurch.
Sally was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed travel, golf, following her favorite teams, and laughter. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Symphony South and held leadership positions in the Washington Hospital Auxiliary and was one of the original organizers of their charity golf outings. As all who knew her can attest, she loved having great times and all things Irish.
Friends will be received on Friday-November 20, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave. Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. A prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday-November 21, 2015 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W.
