Earl William Bugaile

Earl William Bugaile, 69, of Washington died Sunday morning, June 5, 2016 at the Washington Hospital.

He was born September 13, 1946 in Monongahela, Pa., a son of the late Charles and Lois Anderson Bugaile.  Earl graduated from Monongahela High School in 1964.  He was preceded in death by a brother; Mark Allen Bugaile in 1956.  Earl attended the U.S. Army School of Journalism and Washington and Jefferson College as well as graduating from the George Heid School of Television and Radio Arts in Pittsburgh.

Ear lloved the game of hockey, trains, photography and his dogs.  He was a 2015 recipient of the Jefferson Award, a prestigious honor for community and public volunteerism in America for his volunteer work with heart patients at Washington Hospital.

He also donated his time to the South Strabane Township Parks and Recreation Board, the W&J Wind Ensemble, Washington County CASA, Washington Community Theatre and Washington West End Community Center.  He was active in local theater groups over his lifetime and was an accomplished musician in school and as an adult including serving as an officer in the Monongahela Area Community Band.  Earl served on the Trinity Area School Board where he was instrumental in the consolidation and construction of the four Trinity Elementary Schools.  He was also an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.

He was employed full-time at KQV radio as a news anchor since 2006.  Prior to that he worked in several area stations including WKEG, Washington, Pa.; WEDO, McKeesport, Pa.; and WEIR, Weirton, W.Va.  He began his radio career at WTRA, Latrobe,Pa.  He also wrote for many news operations, including the Peters Patch and Mon Valley Messenger.  He filed reports for CBS Radio and the Mutual Broadcasting system in his career.  He formerly was employed by the Washington County Planning Commission and Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington.  He spent over 20 years as a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard based in Washington County and served as information officer for his local unit.

Earl is survived by Marta Decker, his children; Timothy (Kaitlin), Molly, and Benjamin Bugaile, a brother; Eric (Deborah) Bugaile, of Harrisburg, Pa., a sister; Carol Ann Wells, of Lawrenceville, Pa. as well as nieces, a great niece and nephew, and several cousins.

Friends will be received on Wednesday-June 8, 2016 from 9:00A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15241.  A memorial service will begin at 11:00 A.M. in the church with Dr. Jim Gilchrist officiating.  Interment will be private.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S.
