Laura Jean Wood
/Laura Jean Wood passed away on May 24, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania surrounded by her loving family. She was heroically fighting a long battle with a liver disease, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), after a previously successful liver transplant in 2020. Laura was born on April 25, 1988, in Seoul, South Korea. She was adopted by her dedicated parents, Daniel and Maria Iovino on September 25, 1988. This day was known as her “Gotcha Day” to her family and celebrated every year.
Laura graduated from Comsewogue High School in 2006 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University in 2018. She was very passionate about her recent position with the Center for Disease Control. Prior to that, she worked with the Veterans Affairs Department after graduating from college.
In 2014, Laura married Joshua Wood and moved to Clinton, Pennsylvania, to start their beautiful life together. Together, they raised two young children, Ryan and Emily. Ryan, Emily, and Josh were the absolute love of Laura’s life. She would sacrifice anything for her family and was known as a dedicated mother and wife. Her happiest moments were when she was spending time with her family.
Laura served as a member of the United States Army where she enlisted in 2006. Her MOS was assigned as an 88M and she also volunteered to be stationed at Camp Red Cloud in South Korea during her service. Laura was a proud veteran and loved her time in the Army.
Laura enjoyed spending her free time with her children and family. She loved traveling and experiencing different parts of the world. The beach and any warm weather were her special places to be and enjoy some relaxation. Laura often looked forward to spending time with her best friend, Tori, playing blackjack at local casinos. She was an avid dog lover and seemed to always be taking pictures with her pets.
Laura’s legacy of love and dedication lives on through her family. She is survived by her husband, Joshua; her children, Ryan and Emily; her parents, Daniel and Maria; her brother, Marc; her father and mother-in- law, Roger and Toni Wood; her brother-in-law, Michael (Kauriee); her sister-in-law, Abby, along with their families. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Laura Jean Wood will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She deeply touched many people in her young life. Her spirit of generosity and love will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. the hour of a blessing service in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. Burial will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 and the United States Army.
