Ruth G. West
/Ruth G. West, 98, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 15, 2024, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born December 13, 1925, in Meadowlands, PA, a daughter of the late Anna M. Devakos. Mrs. West was a longtime glass worker in Washington with her most recent employment at Ball Glass. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles, and shopping. Mrs. West also enjoyed travelling with her late husband and family. She was also an avid sports fan, particularly of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. West will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On June 1, 1947, she married John L. West who passed away on June 26, 2004. They enjoyed a beautiful relationship for over 57 years, with family always at the center. Surviving is her son, Bill West (Betsy) of Washington, PA; a daughter, Marcia Deeb (Dennis) of Washington, PA; three grandchildren, Bill West Jr. (Teri), Marc Alfano (Christina) and Erin McPeak (Kevin), and five great grandchildren, Emily, Anthony, Gianni, Ava, and Grace. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. West was preceded in death by her brother, George Devakos; sisters, Mirian (Mame) McCollum and Rose Ann Miller. She was the last of her immediate family.
Mrs. West received excellent care at Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. The family wants to thank the kindhearted Southmont staff as well as the members of Gateway hospice including Vesta Greaves, Todd Riskey, Jen Celedonia, and Reverend Jude Urso who cared for her in her final weeks.
Friends will be received on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
