Cheryl A. Johnston

Cheryl A. Johnston, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital.  Cheryl was born in Washington, PA to her loving parents Ronald “Rock” and Barbara Harris who survive.  She resided in Washington in the home that she built with her family whom she loved with all of her heart.  She was a John F. Kennedy Catholic School graduate and went on to earn her bachelors in elementary education from California University of Pennsylvania. However, her true occupation was being a devoted wife to Vaughn, who was the love of her life, and mother to their three children Chelsea, Ryan, and Adam.  She was a current member of St. James Parish in Washington, and she made sure to carry her faith with her always.

Cheryl had a love for all things fun.  She never missed an opportunity to travel, attend a concert, or just spend time with her close-knit family and friends.  She documented every event with thousands of pictures and loved to look back on these moments.  Cheryl was a very loving, generous, and kind person who always put her family and friends before herself.  She loved hosting holidays and family dinners at her home and spending the day on her boat at Deep Creek.  She was always looking forward to the next girls’ trip or family vacation.  After enjoying her adventures, she loved to come home to visit her parents, take care of household tasks, feed her outdoor kitties, and dote on her granddog, Remi.  She was truly full of life and an absolute joy to all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be missed every day by so many.

Waiting for Cheryl in Heaven are her husband, Vaughn Johnston and their son, Ryan Johnston.  Also welcoming Cheryl is her favorite pup and constant companion, Millie.

Surviving, in addition to her parents is a daughter, Chelsea (James Ridgedell) Johnston and a son, Adam Johnston.  Chelsea and Adam were her everything.  She did all she could to make them smile, laugh, and enjoy life as much as she did.

Also surviving are brothers, Mikey Harris and Ronnie (Sandy) Harris; and sister, Tracy (Derek) Desmond; sister-in-law, Joyce (Linus) Mayernick; nieces, Nikki (Rudi) Baker, Samantha (Garrett) Korpus, Alexa (Ben) Cornelius, Emma Harris, and Lauren (Trevor) Nissley; nephews, Travis Polen, Tyler Harris, Luke (Georgia) Desmond, Aaron (Morgan) Harris, and Cody Harris; great-nieces, Maci and Hadli Baker, Stella Korpus, and Margot and Rosalyn Nissley; close cousin, Joe (Brenda) Harris; special family members, Cliff Polen and Rachel Polen. Countless more devoted family members and lifelong friends.
