Mary Jo Watson

Mary Jo Watson, 80 of Washington, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born December 27, 1942 in Washington, PA a daughter of the late Andrew and Georgia Clark Hughes.  Mrs. Watson was a graduate of Washington High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Education from California University of Pennsylvania.  She was employed at Washington High School for over thirty years where she taught Biology.  Mrs. Watson was a huge Wash High Prexie fan and enjoyed attending all of their sporting events.  She truly bled blue and black.  Mrs. Watson also enjoyed reading and eating lunch at the Tower with her regular lunch group.  Most of all, she cherished the time that she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

On August 22, 1964 she married the late Lonnie L. Watson.  Surviving are three daughters, Heather A. (Aaron Tomey) Watson of Washington, Nicole L. (William Parkinson) Watson of Washington and Lona (Adam Williams) Watson of Washington; six grandchildren, Morgan, Mikayla, Lonnie “Austin”, Aiden, Brynn and London; five great-grandchildren, Paxton, Raeyah, Vena, Barrett and Lottie and her best friend and “Sister”, Cecelia Wiley.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Richard and Jackson Hughes.

Friends will be received from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Miller officiating.  Burial will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington High School Science Department, 201 Allison Ave., Washington PA 15301.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
