Donald Willet Weller Jr.

Donald Willet Weller Jr., of Washington, died peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2022 with his family at his side.

He was born on November 24, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a son of Donald and Caroline Weller.

Don was a 1965 graduate of South Hills High School, but also attended Dormont High school up through the 11th grade.  He enlisted in the Navy following high school graduation, serving during the Vietnam conflict.  He served actively in the military from 1965-1969, whereupon he received his honorable discharge.

He met Debra Weller (Bedillion) while home on leave.  He married Debbie on November 29, 1969.  Together they began their family in Washington, Pennsylvania.  They would enjoy 52 years of wonderful marriage.

After completing his time in the Navy he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and was later self-employed as an insurance broker.

Don served as head scoutmaster for troop 1017, out of Bethel Church in Prosperity, Pa.  He held this position for five years enjoying trips to Annawanna, Pymatuning, and many other scouting excursions.  He also helped in the youth soccer organization in Lagonda.

Don was a family man and enjoyed spending time and building memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  He relished family trips to Myrtle Beach, the mountains of Tennessee, and the beaches of Florida.  He enjoyed afternoons at the Meadows Casino in Washington, and resort vacations with his wife.  Don loved his cats and dogs, including his dog Maggie and his cat Bella.  He also enjoyed gardening and grilling on the deck with friends and family, including close friends Lynn and David Dolanch and Doreen Lassan.

Mr. Weller is survived by his wife, Debbie Weller; two daughters, Alicia Berry of Washington and Heather (Danny) Diaz of Palm Coast, Florida; a son, Donald Weller III of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Weller of Washington, Cullen Bresselsmith of Washington, Christian and Emma Diaz of Palm Coast, Florida and his sisters, Ruth Spray (Ronald) of Bloomington, In, and Caroline Lewis (Gary) of Pinehurst, NC.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Donald Sr. and Caroline Weller; his sister, Donna Coniglio of Pittsburgh, PA and his brother, Charles Weller of Pittsburgh PA.
