Sandra George Westcott

Sandra “Sandy” George Westcott of Washington, PA died Monday, November 14, 2022.  Surrounded by the love of her family and after a brief, brave battle with cancer, she passed away at home a day after her 61st birthday.

Sandy is survived by her mother, Naomi Kurian of Washington (formerly of Export, PA); her husband of 15 years, Frank Westcott of Washington; sister, Cindy Pattyn (Marty) of Harrison City, PA; nephew, Andrew Pattyn (partner and honorary nephew, Lawrence Snow) of Chicago, IL; niece, Emily Pattyn of Seattle, WA; stepson, Dustin Westcott (Tiffany Durett) of Houston, PA, stepson, Colin Westcott and granddaughter, Jamison Westcott of Houston; uncle, Lewis Reich of Greensburg, PA and two brothers in law, Ed (Susan) Westcott and Ken (Michelle) Westcott both of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter (Russian) Kurian, her husband of 23 years, Gary George MD, and her aunt, Darlene Reich.

Sandy grew up in Export.  She graduated in 1979 from Franklin Regional High School and she became an x-ray technician at Presbyterian School of Radiologic Technology in 1981.  She was a former member of Nemacolin Country Club, and she was proud to have been a past president of their Women’s Golf Association.  Sandy was a current member of the Washington Country Club.

Sandy had a great love of traveling, and she especially enjoyed Kauai, HI.  She traveled to Kauai over 25 times, had many local friends, and marveled at the humpback whales.  With her infectious energy and quick wit, her presence brightened every room she entered.  She was a “friend magnet” who easily befriended people everywhere she went, and she was a tremendous friend to many.  Sandy was baptized in the Russian Orthodox faith, and she led her life and cancer battle with faith over fear.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Concordia Hospice of Washington for the loving care and compassion that they gave to Sandy while under their care.

Friends will be received from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. on Friday, November 18, 2022 in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 in the funeral home.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O.
