John R. McKuhn
/John R. McKuhn, 88 of Washington passed away peacefully on Wednesday-April 21, 2021 following a brief illness. He was born January 27, 1933 in Hickory PA the son of the late Raymond and Emaline Taylor McKuhn. Mr. McKuhn graduated from Hickory High School in 1952. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served with the rank of Corporal from 1953 until 1955 during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal before being honorably discharged. Mr. McKuhn then began his career with the United States Postal Service that spanned many years until the time of his retirement. He was protestant by faith and enjoyed all of his pets and livestock animals. Mr. McKuhn will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Mr. McKuhn was married to the late Shirley Tennant McKuhn for 47 years before the time of her passing in 2012.
Surviving is a brother, Tom (Laura) McKuhn of St. Augustine, Florida; a sister, Elizabeth “Sue” Pizer of West Middletown; two nieces, Judy (Colin) Kelly of Avella and Bonnie (Jim Hatfield) Pizer of Washington; two great nieces, Ashley (Adam) Cummins of Avella and Katelyn (Robert Silverthorn) Kelly of Washington and a great nephew, Chris (Stacy) Kelly of McDonald. Several great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. McKuhn was preceded in death by a brother, James Ray “Sonny” McKuhn.
Friends will be received on Monday-April 26, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. the hour of a funeral service in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. Those in attendance are asked to wear a facial covering. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory, PA. Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Army.
