Eugene “Gene” Martin Foster, 83, of Washington, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Friday, October 1, 2021.

Born on November 24, 1937, he was the son of the late James Albert Foster and Marie Martin Foster of Washington.

Gene was a 1955 graduate of Trinity High School.  He served in the United States Army from 1961 - 1964. Upon his discharge from the service, he began his 37-year career at Jessop Steel until his retirement in 2001.

He was a member of the Church of the Covenant, where he served as a Deacon, an Elder, and took care of church properties. For 18 years, he served as a Canton Township Supervisor. He was also very active in the Republican Party.

Over the years, Gene was a very compassionate landlord to many tenants. He often stopped by to visit and to give them groceries or  eggs from his chickens. He enjoyed shopping for groceries at Giant Eagle.

Gene loved all his animals which included his cattle, rabbits, chickens, and turkeys. Most of all, he loved his pups, Cocoa, Mia, and Penny. They were his constant companions.

Besides his parents, deceased are his brother, Richard C. Foster, and a sister, Barbara, who died in infancy.

Gene is survived by a brother, Jay (Karen) Foster of Jasper, GA; a niece, Renee Foster ( David) Dickson and a nephew, Rick (Jennifer) Foster both of Washington; nephews, Jay Alan Foster, Jeffery (Loren) Foster and Alan (Joy) Foster all of Florida; a niece, Allyson (Al) Garcia of Georgia and several great and great - great  nieces and nephews who loved him.

Friends will be received on Tuesday-October 5, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday-October 6, 2021 in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Daniel B. Merry officiating.  Interment will follow in West Middletown Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O.
