Irene Sasek, 97 of Houston passed away peacefully on Tuesday-December 15, 2020 in Canonsburg General Hospital following a brief illness.  She was born June 28, 1923 in Meadow Lands, PA the daughter of the late Michael Sr. and Mary Kvindis Dorchak.  Mrs. Sasek was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Houston, PA since 1946.  On June 20, 1944 she married Edward F. “Bud” Sasek who died July 3, 1969.  She graduated in 1942 from the new school at Chartiers Twp. High School’s first graduating class.  Mrs. Sasek was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Houston.  She was also a member of the Washington Area Senior Citizens and Center in the Woods, California PA where she volunteered.  Mrs. Sasek also belonged to the Silver Sneakers of the Mon Valley Y.M.C.A.  She was a talented artist who enjoyed entering her many oil paintings in art shows.  Mrs. Sasek enjoyed reading books, doing yard work, planting flowers, shopping and playing the organ.  She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.  

Surviving is a son, Duane K. (Wanda McDonald) Sasek; two grandchildren, D. Edward (Victoria) Sasek and Jody Sasek Zylo; three great grandchildren, Trevor, Alexandria and Kolby and one sister, Ruth Kenny.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her companion of many years, Kenneth H. Laird; five brothers, Michael Jr., Peter, Alexander, Emil and John who died in infancy; three sisters, Mary, Pauline and Anna who died as a child.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation and burial will be private.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadow Lands United Methodist Church, 535 Pike St. Meadow Lands, PA 15347.  This was Mrs. Sasek’s family church which she cherished and where she and her sisters played piano as children.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
