John B. Fonner

John B. Fonner, 76 of Prosperity died Sunday-January 15, 2017 in the Washington Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born March 26, 1940 in Washington Pa. the son of the late Roy B. and Freda M. Hemelrick Fonner.  Mr. Fonner graduated from Trinity High School in 1958.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as a foreman for Penn Dot for 35 years until his retirement.  In his younger years he loved riding his Harley Davidson.  He enjoyed the time he spent on his tractors and backhoe while maintaining his 40 acres of land.  Mr. Fonner enjoyed watching old western movies and watching his chickens and ducks.  After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed “Snowbirding” in Arizona and Florida during the winter.  Most of all, Mr. Fonner enjoyed spending time with all of his friends and family.

On December 19, 1964 he married Judy M. Rose who survives.  Also surviving are two sons; Jerry (Jody) Fonner of New York and Jeff Fonner of North Carolina, two daughters; Julie Fonner of Prosperity and Jodi Fonner Orbin of Washington, six granddaughters; Melanie Fonner of New York, Jessica (R.J.) Stasiowski of Texas, Abigail (Toby) Tahy of Ohio and Ashley, Casey and Jena Orbin of Washington, two great-grandchildren; Jeremy Stasiowski of Texas and Eloise Tahy of Ohio.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Mr. Fonner will be deeply missed by his pets; “Zoey” and “Sambo”. 

In addition to his mother and father; Mr. Fonner was preceded in death by a sister; Betty Jean Barney.

Friends will be received on Wednesday-January 18, 2017 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave. Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday-January 19, 2017 in the funeral home.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O.
