Mary Ann "Mitzi" Gajarsky Greco

Mary Ann “Mitzi” Gajarsky Greco, 96 of Washington died Sunday-January 8, 2017 at the Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.  She was born January 27, 1920 in McConnels Mills Pa. the daughter of the late Stephen & Irene Buchta Gajarsky who came to the United States through Ellis Island for a better life in America. As a teenager she marched with the coal mining families in Lincoln Hill & through downtown Washington in hopes of starting the union. 

Preceding her in death was her husband; Ralph C. Greco whom she married on October 3, 1943 at St. Anne’s Church in Hoboken, New Jersey during World War II.  While her husband was away during World War II she worked wiring destroyers in the New York Harbor. She was very active in local politics & in the Democratic Party.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, loved to bowl but especially loved her family and cherished the special times she was able to share with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.  Mrs. Greco was a very kind and warm family person.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church for many years.

Surviving is a son; Ralph Stephen (Lorraine) Greco of Appex, North Carolina, a daughter; Linda (Joseph) Homovich of Washington, six grandsons; Stephen (Carmel), Jeffrey (Catherine) and Daniel Greco, Joseph, Michael (Kristine) and David Homovich, three great-grandsons; Nicholas & Joseph Greco and Dash Homovich.  Also surviving is one brother; Carl (Patty) Gajarsky of Missouri and three sisters; Caroline McQuade of New York, Marguerite Marchisella of South Carolina and Jo Ann Hollier of Washington. 

Deceased are three brothers; Peter, John & Steve Gajarsky and three sisters; Catherine Miller, Irene Cava & Helen Cline.

Friends will be received on Friday-January 13, 2017 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director.  A prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday-January 14, 2017 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, Washington with the Rev. Robert L. Seeman as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mc Murray, Pa.  Memorial contributions may be made to the John F. Kennedy Catholic School, 111 W.
