Dorothy R. Balazy
/Dorothy R. Balazy, 82 of Houston died Thursday-September 17, 2015 unexpectedly at the Donnell House. She was born September 21, 1932 in Washington the daughter of the late Stanley A. & Alice H. Negle Balazy. Miss Balazy was employed as a Telephone Operator for 40 years for Bell Telephone, later known as Verizon until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and the Christian Mothers of the church. She was a graduate of Chartiers Houston High School. Miss Balazy was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Fort Pitt Chapter and a member of the Bell Telephone 10 year Club. She was an avid Pirates & Steeler fan. She enjoyed watching the “Price Is Right”, reading and going to the Meadows Casino.
Surviving are her two sisters; Patricia Getzik of Mt. Lebanon & Frances Raspet of Houston, sister in law; Maxine Balazy of Burgettstown, nieces; Debra (Gary) Cummings of Zelienople, Kim (Greg) Drahuschak of Mt. Lebanon, Michelle (Jeff) Siders of Houston, Kathy (Chris) Vermilya of Canonsburg & Beth (Bill) Reedy of Canonsburg, nephews; David (Debbie) Getzik of Washington & Michael (Mary) Raspet of Magnolia, Texas, step nieces; Jody (Dean) Mazutis of Bentleyville & Jamie (Shawn) Leonard of Burgettstown, step nephew; David Constant of Slovan. Several great nieces & great nephews survive along with several great step nieces & great step nephews.
Miss Balazy was preceded in death by her brother; Stanley Balazy & her dog; Abby.
Friends will be received on Sunday-September 20, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Warco-FalvoFuneral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday-September 21, 2015 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands with the Rev. Carmen A. D’Amico as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
