Ethel Rogers Marchand

Ethel Rogers Marchand, 97 of Newell, Pa. whom resided in Stephens City, Virginia since 2010, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday-August 25, 2015.

Ethel was born February 12, 1918 in McKeesport the daughter of the late William and Edna Rogers, and step daughter to William Lutz. Mrs. Marchand was a member of the Newell United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Brownsville High School and as an LPN from Charleroi-Monessen General Hospital (1968) where she was also employed until her retirement in 1975. Ethel enjoyed her faith, her family, crocheting, going to the beach, attending Church gatherings, and visiting with her friends and loved ones. She was a member of the Newell United Methodist Women.

On July 26, 1940 she married Lewis V. “Rip” Marchand in Winchester, Virginia. He passed away on April 20, 2005 after 92 years.

Ethel was preceded in death by “Rip” (her beloved husband), daughter; Kathy, three sisters; Alice Boyd, Ruth Harger, and Louise Hillegass, and brother; Sonny Rogers. 

Surviving are her sons; Dennis and David, daughters-in-law; Alberta and Jean, grandchildren; Lewis, Lori Wagner, Rebecca Smith, Sarah, and Melissa; great-grandchildren; Alexis, Ciara, and Dustin.

Friends and family will be received on Friday-August 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. A funeral service will be held on Saturday-August 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Rabenstein officiating.  Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
