Donald S. Young
“BEST DAD IN THE WORLD”
Donald S. Young, 84 of Washington died Saturday-July 23, 2016 at Hawthorne Woods, Washington. He was born December 5, 1931 in Washington the son of the late Clyde & Laura Anthon Young. Mr. Young graduated from Washington High School in 1950 where he won two WPIAL Wrestling Championships. He attended Waynesburg University and graduated from Pittsburgh Technical Institute in 1957. He served with the United States Army Infantry in Korea from 1952 until 1954. He was a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175. He was a life-long resident of Washington and for 33 years was employed at Cooper Industries, Canonsburg, in the Manufacturing Engineering Department retiring in 1992.
On January 25, 1957 he married Sandra Smith Young in the First Christian Church. Sandra passed away on July 16, 2014. Surviving is a son; Richard D. Young of Wexford, a daughter; Karen Young (Phillip) Tarentino of Washington, a brother; Clyde “Chige” Young of South Carolina, four grandchildren; Blake & Cole Young and Eric & Rachel Tarentino. Many people in Washington knew Mr. Young because he was well known in the community for walking many miles a day spending time talking and visiting with all his friends. His children knew him as the “BEST DAD IN THE WORLD”. He was generous, kind and loving and will always be remembered that way.
Friends will be received on Wednesday-July 27, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. the hour of a funeral service in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. Rev. Susan Petritis of Gateway Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Army.
