Sharon Louise Scott

Sharon Louise Scott (née McDowell), affectionately known as Sherry, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 76 in Washington, Pennsylvania, the same city where she was born on October 18, 1947.  A lifelong resident of Washington, Sherry dedicated her career to caring for others as a nurse at Washington County Health Center and Washington Hospital until her retirement in 2008.

Sherry attended McGuffey High School and furthered her education at the Reynolds School of Nursing.  Renowned for her loving, kind, and welcoming nature, Sherry was a pillar of strength and lived life on her own terms, embracing anyone who showed up at her doorstep with open arms.

Her personal life was filled with joy from spending time at the beach and cherishing moments with her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.  Sherry's legacy of love and care is carried on by her children, Cynthia Desmond (Samuel), Todd Scott (Kelly), and Shelley Janovich (Eric); her brother, William McDowell; and her cherished grandchildren, Marjorie Florian (Cliff), Amanda Phillips (Mark), Matthew Cass (Mikelene), Joseph Desmond (Tracy), Frank Cass (Amanda), Zack Scott, Mason Janovich, Luke Scott, Ethan Janovich, and Sydney Janovich, as well as her seventeen great-grandchildren, and the many other unofficially adopted grandchildren.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, William Scott; her parents, Harold and Laurie McDowell; and her brother, Douglas McDowell.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director.  A funeral service will  be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.  Burial will be private.  The funeral home is assisting the family during this time, ensuring that Sherry's life is commemorated with the dignity and respect she deserves.  Her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on her family, friends, and community.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
