Norman Jean Tracanna
Norma Jean Tracanna, 92, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the Donnell House, with her family by her side, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 28, 1931, in Washington, daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Comito.
Norma was a graduate of Trinity High School. After graduating from Trinity, Norma worked as a clerk at S.A. Meyer Jewelry Co. where she met her future husband, Fred Tracanna. They were married on September 19, 1953, in Immaculate Conception Church. They were married for 62 years until Fred’s passing on October 28, 2015. After several years as a homemaker, she was employed as the secretary at Immaculate Conception High School, from which she retired after twenty years of employment.
Norma was a lifelong member of St. James Parish and was a member of the St. James Knitters and Crocheters Group. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting afghans, and baby blankets, and many family members and friends received these gifts lovingly made by her. Norma also enjoyed reading and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan.
Norma’s greatest joy was her family, and she enjoyed making spaghetti and meatballs for them every Sunday. She also provided them with delicious cakes, cookies, and pies for dessert.
Surviving is her daughter, Joyce and son-in-law, Skip, with whom she made her home. Also surviving are her grandsons, Ryan (Kim), Tony (Jen), and Nick (Leann), and great grandchildren, Jack, Nathan, Zachary, Luke, Hailey and Levon. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.
Norma was the last of her immediate family having four sisters who predeceased her, Mary Flis, Emma Aquilino, Teresa Toth, and Beatrice Lee.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A prayer service will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, PA with the Rev. Mike Zavage as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. James Mausoleum.
Norma’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Concordia Hospice of Washington for the compassionate care that was provided to her during such a difficult period. They would especially like to thank her nurses, Jessie, Francie, and her aide, Tina. They would also like to thank her personal caregivers, Nancy and Jan for their loving care to Norma and unending support to her family.
