Vaughn Crile
Vaughn “Sandy” Crile, 92, of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., formerly of Washington, Pa, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the North Strabane Wellness & Rehab Center. He was born March 29, 1932, in Washington, PA, a son of the late Vaughn L. and Gladys Cain Crile. Mr. Crile was a graduate of Trinity High School. He served 4 years in the United States Navy. Mr. Crile owned and operated Crile Metallizing Co. before selling the company and relocating to New Smyrna Beach, Fl where he became active in airport real estate development. He was active in aviation and was an accomplished pilot with numerous ratings.
On November 1, 1952, he married Gayel Ackroyd Crile, who survives. The couple had been married for over 71 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Crile and Kathy (Kevin) Gallagher; two sons, Brian (Christy) Crile and Daniel (Vicky) Crile; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and a niece, Joyce (Linus) Mayernik.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Wunderlich.
