Susanne Shenkel Figulski

November 7, 1950 - December 1, 2024

Susanne Shenkel Figulski wife of 53 years to Robert L. Figulski, died Sunday, December 1, 2024.  In addition to her husband, surviving are two sons, Robert C. Figulski and William B. Figulski and his wife Dr. Deborah Burba Figulski, DVM; grandchildren, Kaytlin Sophia Figulski, Brittney Sophia Figulski, William Stanley Figulski, and Caroline Janet Figulski; brother, John Shenkel, and sisters, Constance Donaldson, Mary Thomas, and Stephanie Graczyk.

Susanne graduated from St. Justin High School in 1968 and earned a BSN from Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing and the rank of 1st  Lieutenant in 1972.  She served as an ICU/CCU Nurse at Kimbrough Army Hospital and earned her Captain Bars.  Following her husband’s career, Susanne continued nursing in Maryland, Florida, Kentucky and North Carolina and retired in 2015.  Susanne was a 30-year member of The American Legion at Post #67, Cary NC, and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175, Washington, PA and could often be found at Bingo games and the Casino.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director.  Departing Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, PA with the Rev. Mike Zavage as celebrant.  Interment will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Susanne’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
