Shirley Ann Dukett

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Shirley Ann Dukett of Washington, PA.  Shirley, a beloved wife, mother, nana, aunt & friend sadly passed away after a short illness on December 13, 2024, at the age of 76.

Shirley was born on February 28, 1948, in Phillipsburg, NJ, a daughter of the late Dorothy Frinzi Billman.  She worked many jobs growing up, from a lab tech at Air Products to working locally at the former Hess’s department Store as well as BONTON Department Store.  Shirley retired as an insurance claim manager for Keystone Rehab Services in 2014.

Shirley met the love of her life and husband of 55 years, Bill Dukett, in kindergarten.  They grew up together in Phillipsburg, NJ and started dating in their sophomore year of High School.  They moved multiple times over the years to end up making their permanent home in Washington, PA.  She was dedicated to her husband’s career as a football coach at Washington & Jefferson College.  Shirley supported him in many ways from hosting players for dinner at their home to helping to organize various events for the football team.  She loved to support in any way she could and never lived in the limelight, always enjoying being the quiet strong one in the back.

Shirley’s life was defined by love, hard work, and dedication to her family.  Her greatest joys were her children & grandchildren.  She was a strong advocate for the Special Olympics and could be seen supporting her son at the events.  She never missed an opportunity to see her grandchildren participate in all their activities from Cheer, Dance, Karate, Soccer, Piano, Concert Band, Basketball, and Baseball.  She was a fixture at every event

Shirley is survived by her husband, Bill Dukett; a daughter, Stacy Dukett Hawkins (Chris); a son, BJ Dukett; a sister-in-law, Ruth Dukett Dunwell; nieces, Jennie and Kate Storks, and her four beloved grandchildren, Kelsey, Joshua, Mackensie & Jaxson Hawkins.

She will be lovingly remembered and always missed by all who knew her, especially her husband, children and grandchildren
