Donald R. Craven
Donald R. Craven, 95, of Strabane Trails, Washington, PA, joined his wife in heaven on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was born October 2, 1929, in McKeesport, PA, a son of the late Earl D. and Alice M. Kleist Craven.
After graduating from McKeesport High School, Don served in the United States Marine Corps from 1949 until 1951. He worked for 30 years for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. Don was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, working his way up to Grand Tall Cedar. His name is in the Congressional Record for work performed while in the Tall Cedars. He also belonged to the Free and Accepted Masons, Polaris Lodge #375, where he served in various roles up to and including Worshipful Master Mason.
Don was one of the founding fathers of Central Highlands United Methodist Church in Elizabeth where he had been a member since 1958. He enjoyed his last four years living at Strabane Trails.
On May 5, 1951, he married his true love, Alice Joanne Graves, who passed away November 19, 2015. Left behind are his children, Debra Gantt (William, deceased) of Taylors, S.C., Janet Greene (Daniel) of Washington, PA, Arthur Craven (Bonnie) of Simpsonville, S.C., and David Craven (Shelley) Of Irwin, PA. Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is abrother, Earl Craven and sister, Margaret Septer.
All funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. A private funeral service with military honors accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 was held on October 30, 2024, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
