Shirley Baker

Shirley Baker, age 89, passed away on October 18, 2024.  Beloved wife of Michael, she died peacefully in the embrace of her family after a short hospitalization.  Her life’s passion was her family, volunteerism, and love of needlework.  Shirley was born in Fredericktown, PA to Rudolph and Anna Moravitz Pirge.  She attended Centerville High School, graduating in 1953, and Penn Commercial Business School, graduating in 1954.  During her lifetime, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper and owned a business.  Shirley was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands, PA for over 60 years.

She married the late Michael Baker Jr. on May 21, 1955.  Shirley is survived by her sister, Rose Pacilla; her daughters, Deborah Taber (Scott) and Susan Robison (Mark), and one grandchild, Lili, whom she adored.

The family requests that contributions be made in Shirley’s honor to Angel Ridge Animal Sanctuary, the Washington Hospital Auxiliary, or the Citizens Library.

We miss her already.
