Jean Sawchuck, 91, of Houston, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, June, 11, 2023 in Evergreen Assisted Living, Washington, PA.  She was born December 11, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA a daughter of the late William H. and Annetta Gilliland McDermitt.

Mrs. Sawchuck was a 1951 graduate of Langley High School.  She was a homemaker. Mrs. Sawchuck enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing bingo, and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with family at parties and family reunions.  Mrs. Sawchuck will be dearly missed all who knew and loved her.

On September 19, 1953, she married John Robert Sawchuck who died July 27, 2006.  Surviving are two sons, Robert L. (Cathy) Sawchuck of Maryland and William A. (Ruth) Sawchuck of Houston, PA; three brothers, Donald McDermitt of Georgia, James (Virginia) McDermitt of Illinois, and Howard McDermitt of Virginia; two grandsons, Timothy and Sean Sawchuck. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Tobias, Lois Haney, and Eleanor Elizabeth McDermitt who passed away in infancy.
