Patricia Jo Mituzas
Patricia J. “Patti” Mituzas, 76, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in her home, with family by her side. She was born April 2, 1947, in Washington PA, a daughter of the late Walter Allen and Catherine Anderson Allen.
Patti was a 1965 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School. During her many years of homemaking and raising her three children, she ran P.R.K. Employees Federal Credit Union for 35 years, from her home office. Patti then worked as a Federal Credit Union auditor for Lee Ann Ingram, C.P.A., and later as a subcontractor internal auditor for Rice Energy.
On August 26, 1967, she married Harold P. Mituzas, in Immaculate Conception Church. After Harold was discharged from active duty, serving in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam, the couple built a brand-new home on the outskirts of Washington - where they enjoyed their 56 years of marriage.
Patti was a member of Washington Elks Lodge #776 as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
Patti was devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church of St. James Parish. She was a 35-year devoted member of the Ladies of Charity of Immaculate Conception Church, serving multiple terms as President. She also participated with her husband in other Catholic ministries, including, Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Pre-Cana Marriage Instruction and as a Childrens RCIA Catechist and RCIA Sponsor. Daily rosary was a part of her life.
Patti was an exceptional cook and baker. One Christmas, she made 13,000 cookies and hundreds of Pumpkin Rolls. Her homemade noodles were a family holiday favorite. She would often receive requests for special dishes that the family loved and wanted, even for large family picnics and parties. Patti was also a woman known for her sense of cutting-edge style and impeccable dress. Patti’s family was her life, and nothing brought her more joy than when she could spend time with them.
Surviving, in addition to her husband are three children, Lesly J. (Brad) Phillips, Jason P. (Katherine) Mituzas and Kathryn A. (Steven) Jennings; four grandchildren, Andrew Wallace McAfee, Jackson Paul McAfee, Avery Marie Jennings and London Riley Jennings; siblings, Pennie (Ronnie) Foil, Linda (Harry) Ganter, Timothy Allen, and Jon (Angelika “Mira”) Allen; brothers in law, Charles (Erthalee) Mituzas and William C. Markley III. Twelve nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews also survive. She was also Godmother to Elizabeth C. Shaffer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine L. “Kitty” Markley.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director. Ladies of Charity of St. James Parish will recite the rosary at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 West Chestnut St. Washington, PA, with the Rev.
