Dorothy Lee Opfer, 76 of Washington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in her home.  She was born May 1, 1946 in Homestead, PA the daughter of the late Orville F. and Dorothy M. Schmidt Herchelroth.  Mrs. Opfer was a graduate of Clairton High School and Robert Morris University.  She was employed for many years as a project manager for BNY Mellon.  Mrs. Opfer was a member of the Church of the Covenant in Washington.  She enjoyed quilting, camping and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Opfer will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. 

On January 15, 1965 she married David F. Opfer who survives.  Also surviving is a son, Dave (Chris) Opfer of Washington; a daughter, Stacey (Walt) Gesky of Washington; four grandchildren, D.J., Ethan, Ryan and Dylan and her dog, “Max”.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her father and mother, Mrs. Opfer was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Cochran.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in the Church of the Covenant, 267 E. Beau St. Washington, PA 15301 with the Rev. Dr. William Younger officiating.  Interment will be private in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, PA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Covenant.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S.
