Carol Jean Ross, 80, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in the presence of her family.

The beloved wife of Donald Ross for 58 years; Carol often said she married the man of her dreams. They were married on February 8, 1964, at Immaculate Conception Church in Washington. Don and Carol were inseparable and enjoyed spending their time together.

Carol was a loyal and fierce supporter and protector of her husband, Don, and their two children, Don (Leslie) and Melissa (Eric) who all survive. She was a great listener with a kind heart and an amazing spirit, never hesitating to speak her mind and stand up for what was right. Carol provided incredible advice and care that helped her family members and so many others throughout her life. She was always concerned about and willing to go to bat for the underdogs and made sure everyone felt included.

A devoted grandmother; Carol was proud of her 5 grandchildren, Mark, Luke, Melia, Caroline, and Connor and her two great great grandchildren, Dean and Luke. She carried photos of all of them in her purse and enjoyed every opportunity to share the photos with others. Without a doubt, Carol was her family members’ biggest fan.

Carol enjoyed making a beautiful home for her family and liked gardening, cooking, and baking. Her yard and home were impeccable and welcoming. She had a gift for making others feel comfortable. Carol enjoyed reading autobiographies and had an amazing sense of style.

Carol was born on August 11, 1941, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to Dominick Frank and Mary (Pulice) Frank of Washington who preceded her in death. Her dear twin sister and friend, Geraldine Franks survives along with many nieces and nephews. Carol graduated from Washington High School in 1960 where she was junior/senior class officer. She worked in the Dietetic Department at the Washington Hospital until receiving her Cosmetology license from the Clairol Institute of Pittsburgh in 1961. She worked in the field until starting a family.

At Carol’s request, funeral services were private and under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Carol was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease in her thirties and was told she would most likely not live past 60. Carol’s vitality, optimism, and a healthy streak of stubbornness won and she lived 20 years beyond that. Carol had a beautiful smile that drew people in.
