Helen Gayarski Samila

Helen Gayarski Samila, 96 of Washington, passed away on Saturday- February 12, 2022 at Strabane Woods. She was born November 2, 1925 in Washington, PA and grew up in Canonsburg.  Mrs. Samila was a daughter of the late Vincent and Pauline Delhi Gayarski. 

On August 24, 1946 she married her beloved husband, Nick Samila, Jr. who is deceased.  They were blessed with a beautiful marriage close to 75 years.  

Surviving are her children, Patty (Frank) Steinle of Franklin Park and David of Washington and many nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behind her fur babies, Zeke, Louie and the late Guinness. 

Deceased are her sisters, Freda Gayarski, Mary Gregor, Anna Zanardelli, Margaret Gayarski and Cathy Franitti and brothers, Michael and Louis Gayarski.

Mrs. Samila attended Canonsburg High School.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.  Prior to having children, she worked at RCA.  When her children were raised, she returned to and retired from RCA.  

Helen spent her time as a devoted wife and mother, who loved and nurtured her family.  The joy of her life was raising her two children and spending time with family.  She loved to cook and bake and was excellent at it.

Friends will be received on Wednesday-February 16, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A blessing service will be held on Thursday-February 17, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at 12:30 P.M. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 69 W.
